Default Defensive tackle Malik McDowell, why all the hush, hush?

Almost a year ago, the Seahawks drafted defensive tackle Malik McDowell as their 1st pick. He had an unfortunate ATV accident, but every time his status is asked of PC or JS they are extremely dumb-founded on answering. So, why all the hush, hush on McDowell? Is this a legal concern, over-privacy on the Hawks end, or what?

It's weird as heck. Especially in this world. How you gonna keep anything secret this long?

I guess that it's possible that it is still not known whether he'll get enough better that he'll be able to play football, but it seems like there must be some bits of information that they can pass on to the fans. Since there is nothing forthcoming it seems to me that the McDowell family has asked the NFL and team management not to release anything on his status. If that is the case then that is their right, but I would sure like to understand better what the issues are.

Head injuries can be like that.

Too bad the hawks can't trade him in for another pick. Like a warranty.

Neck injuries, too. I'm not sure what Kam is thinking but he needs to be careful with that neck. Avril seems to be taking the cautious route.

Lots of losses this past year due to injuries.

Several reports are now saying Seattle is likely to release him soon.

I may be in the minority, and don't really care, but the fact that so many people are acting like the Front Office should have somehow known this was gonna' happen. Laughable.

It would be different if he had off the field red flags... then gets arrested and thrown in jail. This was an ATV accident. You can't blame our front office for something so freak.

It hurts that we've basically lost a couple 2nd rounders for this asshat. I feel a little bad for him. Dude's career is most likely over.
